An excellent set of sterling silver drinks coasters that stack on top of each other. They are excellent quality, quite simple in design, with a classic engine turned stripe detail running through the case. In the center of each coaster is a small cartouche within which the letter "R" has been beautifully hand engraved into the center. The coasters come in a set of twelve, and it is prudent to note that they are not exceptionally wide, and will only house a glass with a base that is 3.6" wide.
The coasters are made by American silversmiths, Tiffany & Co. After Tiffany absorbed the Moore Silversmithing company in 1868 Tiffany then began making their own silverware, instead of outsourcing it. Form this moment until 1965 the company used the initial of the Artistic Director, which did not give a precise date, but does give a range. This piece, with the italic m, was for John C. Moore II. He presided over the company between 1907-1947.
